Thrift Shop History
Emmanuel Episcopal Church’s Thrift Shop building was originally ordered by mail from the Mesker Brothers of St. Louis sometime around 1907. It was shipped by rail and then assembled in Hailey. The cast-iron frame is wrapped in corrugated cast-iron, molded to look like bricks. The building may have originally been an assayer’s office. In 1927 it became the Hailey Free Public Library. The City Council auctioned off the building on November 10, 1969, with Emmanuel Church’s priest, Fr. Ellway, outbidding Charlie Harris at $4,333.
